Can I just finish this one thing?

Hello Reader,

Have you ever sat down to answer an email or drink your coffee, and suddenly your puppy or dog needs something?

They bring you a toy. Put a paw on your leg. Or walk off with something you would rather they leave alone.

You just need a few minutes.

Your puppy or dog may not know what to do when you are home but busy with something else.

You can start with a few little moments during the day. After they have been outside and had a chance to move around and spend time with you, offer a safe chew nearby while you answer one short email.

Stay close and see how they do. You may only get a minute or two at first, and that is okay.

If they have trouble, check whether they need something. Next time, try a shorter moment or a different time of day.

Whether you have a puppy, a busy teenage dog, or a dog who recently joined your home, it can take time to get comfortable with the everyday routine.

What is one thing you wish you could get done while your puppy or dog relaxes nearby?

Talk soon,
Kristine

Hello Reader, The little pumpkin outfit looked cute online. Now you are trying to get your puppy or dog into it—and they have other ideas. Your puppy might grab the sleeve and start chewing. Your teenage dog might wiggle away before you get it fastened. And if you recently brought a dog home, you may have no idea how they will feel about wearing anything. Before you try again, pause and watch what they do. Are they moving around comfortably? Or are they trying to rub it off, backing away, or...

Hello Reader, Have you ever caught yourself doing something differently just to make life with your puppy or dog a little easier? Maybe you avoid a certain route.
